Mayor and incumbent council members retain seats in Fenwick Island election on Saturday
Incumbent Mayor Natalie Magdeburger and council members Jacqueline Napolitano and Janice Bortner will keep their seats in Fenwick Island after an election Saturday.
Newcomer Kurt Zanelotti will take the fourth seat, made vacant when Councilman Paul Breger didn't file for reelection.
Residents and nonresident property owners of Fenwick Island, the tiny beach town in the southeasternmost corner of Sussex County, cast votes Saturday at the Town Hall.
The unofficial results are as follows:
Kurt Zanelotti: 372 votes
Natalie Magdeburger: 362 votes
Jacqueline Napolitano: 358 votes
Janice Bortner: 365 votes
John Gary Burch: 316 votes
Bernie Merritt: 315
Kristina Clark: 312 votes
Jim Simpson: 296 votes
Fenwick Island, with its population of about 400, has made news recently due to the Town Council's decision not to renew Police Chief John Devlin's contract.
