Mayors of Gas City and Alexandria make bet on Friday HS football game

Sep. 21—ALEXANDRIA — Folks from Alexandria and Gas City, including the mayors of the two communities, are gearing up for Friday night's high school football game between Mississinewa and the host Tigers.

Alexandria Mayor Todd Naselroad said Monday that Bill Rock Jr., the mayor of Gas City, challenged him to a wager.

The bet consists of lunch on the losing mayor's dime, while the loser has to wear the opposing school's jersey during lunch.

This particular lunch is expected to take place next week.

News of the bet had the Alexandria City Council buzzing during its Monday meeting.

Councilwoman Wendi Goens encouraged the mayor to accept the bet; she was confident Alexandria would win.

Goens also encouraged those attending the meeting to attend Friday's game, which will start at Alexandria-Monroe Jr./Sr. High School at 7 p.m.
