MBTA offering free subway rides from Kenmore station to concertgoers after Guns N’ Roses show

The MBTA and the Red Sox are offering free subway rides from Kenmore station to concertgoers after the Guns N’ Roses show.

These free rides are funded by Fenway Park’s Nucar Fenway Concert Series, Presented by Wasabi Technologies.

Fare gates at Kenmore Station will be open from 10 p.m. until the end of service on August 21, allowing free access.

Fans can board the Green Line outbound toward Boston College, Cleveland Circle, or Riverside, or take the subway into the City for transfers to the Red, Orange, or Blue lines on the MBTA.

“We are excited to partner with the Red Sox to offer free subway rides to Guns N’ Roses fans,” said MBTA General Manager and CEO Phillip Eng. “This is a great way to encourage people to take public transportation to and from the concert and help reduce traffic congestion in the area.”

The Red Sox will compensate the MBTA for the open fare gates for over two-and-a-half hours of service. Parking in the immediate area of Fenway Park is limited and fans are encouraged to take public transportation.

“We are committed to making it easy for fans to get to and from Fenway Park,” said Red Sox Executive Vice President for Legal and Government Affairs Dave Friedman. “This is a great way to do that, and we encourage fans to take advantage of public transit when traveling to the stadium.”
