McAlister's Deli restaurant opening at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10 in Adrian

McAlister's Deli, with four restaurants in Michigan, will officially open its fifth location in the state at 10 a.m. Monday when the Adrian McAlister's, 1001 S. Main St., opens to the public. It is located across the street from Golden Wok and Taco Bell and next door to O’Reilly Auto Parts. Focus Brands Restaurants owns McAlister's Deli along with several other subsidiaries.

ADRIAN — A new dining option in Adrian will open its doors to the public Monday, offering a variety of deli-style sandwiches, soups, salads and iced teas.

And don’t forget about the giant stuffed spuds.

McAlister’s Deli, a fast casual chain of restaurants founded in 1989, will add Adrian to its list of Michigan establishments when it opens at 10 a.m. Monday. There are currently four McAlister’s locations in Michigan, according to Madison Stevens, public relations specialist for Focus Brands Restaurants, which owns McAlister’s Deli along with other subsidiaries such as Cinnabon, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Auntie Anne’s and Jamba brands. Adrian’s McAlister’s, 1001 S. Main St., will be the company’s fifth Michigan establishment. It is located across the street from Golden Wok and Taco Bell and next door to O’Reilly Auto Parts.

“Our restaurant locations in Flint and Owosso have become a really good market for us,” Stevens said. “We are trying to grow into those markets where we have the most fans.”

The other two McAlister’s locations in Michigan are in Lansing and Wyoming. The restaurant’s largest market according to its website, www.mcalistersdeli.com, is Texas with 95 locations. Indiana is second with 44 establishments. There are a total of 516 McAlister’s Deli locations in the United States.

“We are ready to expand McAlister’s Deli to the city of Adrian and to welcome the community into our restaurant,” Mike Moss, director of operations at McAlister’s Deli Company, said in a news release.

The Adrian restaurant will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The restaurant can be contacted at 517-366-2276 or by searching for the McAlister’s Deli-Adrian Facebook page.

The restaurant is widely known for its handcrafted sandwiches, fresh salads, giant stuffed spuds and its McAlister’s Deli Famous Sweet Tea, which Stevens said is a “delicious beverage to drink anytime of the year, but especially on a hot summer day.”

A staple sandwich of the restaurant is the McAlister’s Club, featuring smoked turkey, black forest ham, bacon, sharp cheddar and Swiss cheeses, spring mix lettuce, tomato, mayo and McAlister’s honey mustard on wheat bread.

Made from Idaho Russet potatoes, McAlister’s giant spuds come in five varieties including the Justaspud, Black Angus Roast Beef, Chipotle Chicken and Bacon, Veggie, and Spud Max, which is a baked potato topped with ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar-jack cheese, green onions, black olives and sour cream.

January is recognized as National Soup Month, and Stevens said McAlister’s will be celebrating the month by promoting its soup options which include chicken and dumplings, broccoli and cheddar, country potato, chicken tortilla, chili and veggie chili.

McAlister’s rewards members from Jan. 3-18, will be able to receive a free bread bowl with the purchase of a bowl of soup in the McAlister’s app or in store. New rewards members who download the McAlister’s app will be eligible for a free iced tea.

Adrian McAlister’s will offer a variety of ways for guests to dine, including dine-in, delivery, pick-up window, indoor pick-up station and tableside dining.

McAlister’s also offers catering options including breakfast, snacks, spud bars, salads, sandwich trays, box lunches and desserts.

The company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
