McCain Would 'Fire Some Aides' Over Obama's Netanyahu Gaffe

Speaking on Fox and Friends Tuesday, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said he would “probably fire some aides” if he were in President Obama’s shoes.

McCain was referring to a leak about a conversation Obama had with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at last week’s G-20 summit about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, although Reuters reports that it was journalists, not aides who repeated the quotes.

Sarkozy reportedly said “I cannot bear Netanyahu ... he’s a liar.”

“You’re fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you,” Obama replied.

McCain said the conversation is indicative of the administration’s policy towards Israel, often criticized by Republicans for its lukewarm sentiment.

McCain said he was not surprised by Sarkozy’s remarks.  “The French have always been like that,” he said.
