MCCC sets 3 information sessions; first one is tonight

This month, Monroe County Community College is hosting three open houses/information sessions for its programs.

Current MCCC students, prospective students with parents and adults are welcome to attend.

• A session on the Respiratory Therapy program will take place from 6 to 7:30 tonight in the Gerald Welch Health Education Building on the college's main campus. Pre-registration is necessary. To register, visit monroeccc.edu/rt and use the "RT Career Information Sessions" tab.

Open house participants will learn about respiratory therapy careers, including job duties, employment outlook and classes needed to enter the program. Respiratory Therapy Program faculty will be available to answer questions. Prospective students can also earn a point toward admission into the program by attending.

• A session on MCCC’s Agricultural Operations and Agribusiness program will take place at 6 p.m. April 18 in Founders Hall in the Vacjner Academic Commons area on the main campus.

Michigan State University, MCCC's academic partner in developing and operating these two popular programs, will also be on hand to answer questions.

The Agribusiness programs cover plant and soil science, precision agriculture, agriculture management, entomology, plant pathology and additional fundamentals of core business courses. Graduates earn a certificate in agricultural operations from MSU and an associate of applied science in agribusiness from MCCC, which also includes 62-63 credits for transfer to MSU toward a bachelor's degree and consideration for preferred transfer status.

To register for the open house, visit monroeccc.edu/events and select “more information” on the event listing for the open house.

• Learn about Graphic Design programs at 6 p.m. April 27 in the Vacjner Academic Commons in Founders Hall.

MCCC offers seven certificates and two associate of applied science degrees. Certificates offered include Computer Graphics, Basic Certificate, Digital Media, Basic Certificate and more.

MCCC has a 3+1 articulation agreement with Eastern Michigan University that offers the opportunity to transfer 79 credits earned at MCCC to EMU to complete a bachelor's degree in communication technology. This allows a student to take three years of full-time courses at MCCC and completing one more year, full-time at EMU to finish the bachelor's degree, resulting in a significant cost savings in tuition for the student, MCCC said.

To register for the open house, visit monroeccc.edu/events and select “more information” on the event listing for the open house.
