KOKOMO — Riley Dempewolf belted out a victorious roar that could be heard over the public address announcer at Memorial Gymnasium.

The McCutcheon senior had just finished her high school wrestling career in perfect fashion.

As in four state championships in four years.

Dempewolf, who in 2019 became Tippecanoe County's first female girls wrestling state champion, won the 195-pound title at the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling state championships the past three years.

This season, Dempewolf wrestled in the 250-pound class but ended the season with the same result, standing atop the podium.

This one was earned, with Dempewolf needing extra time to earn a 2-1 sudden-death victory over Columbia City's Haley Thompson.

North Montgomery twins Cailin and Catie Campbell both exit having won three state titles.

Catie Campbell reached the 120-pound championship match, where the Chargers senior pinned West Lafayette sophomore Rose Kaplan in 3:51 to claim her third individual state championship.

Catie Campbell won at 126 pounds as a freshman and a junior while finishing runner-up at 132 pounds her sophomore year.

Cailin Campbell defeated Noblesville's Kyra Tomlinson 14-7 in the title match at 132 pounds. She won the 120-pound title each of the last two years and was runner-up at 120 pounds in 2019.

It is the second runner-up finish for Kaplan, who lost in the championship match at 113 pounds last season.

West Lafayette's Hurshal Pol and Annie Hahn both overcame semifinal losses to win their third-place matches with pins.

Pol, who finished third at 106 pounds last year and fourth at 106 in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, needed 3:15 to put Faith Vander Laan's shoulders to the mat in the third-place bout at 113 pounds. Hahn pinned New Palestine's Jasmine Camacho in 4:06 for third place at 145 pounds.

Hahn's Broncho teammate Karagan Edmonds went 2-2 on the day, finishing sixth at 126 pounds.

Tri-County's Thalia Pearson placed third at 250 pounds after falling to Dempewolf in the semifinals. She bounced back with a pin over Kokomo's Brielle Humphries. Attica's Shae Meador was sixth at 250 pounds after winning the weight class a year ago.

Area representatives finished sixth, seventh and eighth at 98 pounds with Clinton Prairie freshman Kadie Fearnow edging Tri-County's Summer Stoller 4-3 in the consolation bracket. Fearnow finished sixth and Stoller defeated Frankfort's Eryka Pillion 10-7 in the seventh-place match.

Lafayette Jeff's Maria De Le Cruz and Verenice Jimenez-Gaeta, North Montgomery's Hailey Kunz and Rensselaer's Rachel Dunlap advanced out of the regional tournament and dropped opening-round matches at the state finals.
