McDonald's is adding bacon cheese fries to the menu, because those arteries won't clog themselves.

A source within McDonald's told Business Insider that the fast food chain will start rolling out cheesy bacon fries nationally in 2019. They were already being tested in some locations in Hawaii and Northern California, where customers took pictures of the meal.

"I'm afraid I'll have to provide a cheesy no comment," a McDonald's representative told Business Insider about the timeline for launching cheesy bacon fries in all 50 states. "At this moment, our kitchens are bacon-ing something together. But we're not yet ready to share the gouda news."

If you say so.

Details on the McDonald's website are few, but we do know the ingredients are french fries, cheddar cheese sauce, and bacon bits. This adds up. McDonald's offers cheese fries in other countries but hasn't yet made them a permanent fixture on U.S. menus. But piling fries with melted cheese and crumbly bacon sounds like a no-brainer, even if the cheese proportions look a little scanty, if we're being honest.

In other news, the Voyager 2 spacecraft broke past the sun's range of influence and into interstellar territory, NASA announced Monday, becoming only the second human-made object to reach those distant stretches of the galaxy. Cheese fries! Outer space! Just look where human ingenuity can take us.
