McDonald’s may build $1M restaurant near future Target, H-E-B in southwest Fort Worth

More new development is coming along the Chisholm Trail Parkway in far southwest Fort Worth.

In December, the Star-Telegram reported preliminary plans for a Target along McPherson Boulevard, on land just to the west of the parkway interchange where there hasn’t been much commercial development yet. Now, newly filed records show McDonald’s wants to be part of that shopping center.

The new $1 million, 3,800-square-foot McDonald’s restaurant is in pre-development stages. The site is right along McPherson, on one of at least seven outparcels shown on a developer’s survey. The roughly 1-acre parcels have a big-box store behind it, the survey shows.

McDonald’s already has a location on Sycamore School Road, about two miles north off Chisholm Trail Parkway.

If Target comes to McPherson Boulevard, it would be the first in this fast-growing corner of Fort Worth. The closest existing Target is at Interstate 20 and Chisholm Trail, about six miles north. There also is a Target in Burleson to the south.

There haven’t been any additional clues about the plans for Target on McPherson Boulevard since December. This Target store would likely look very different than the city’s older Targets.

Meanwhile, construction workers continue to toil on new restaurants, service businesses and cleared land on the east side of McPherson. That’s where H-E-B will likely build a grocery store on the north side of the boulevard.

New restaurants already open along McPherson include Chick-fil-A, Whataburger, Chili’s and Raising Cane’s. There are plans to build a $1.1 million CAVA Mediterranean restaurant right next to the H-E-B property, and an EECU branch across the street.

CosMc’s, the new McDonald’s retro-theme concept with sweet drinks and quick-bite snacks, is going up on McPherson just east of the traffic circle.

As for the possible future H-E-B, the company purchased the land at The Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch in March 2023 but has been mum about its plans. The grocery chain has only said the land purchase is in “anticipation of (the company’s) future needs.”
