McFarland man sentenced for conspiring to distribute fentanyl, meth

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A McFarland man who delivered more than 1,000 pills containing fentanyl to an undercover officer was sentenced Monday to more than a decade in prison.

Ignacio Alcantar Torres, 34, received 10 years and 10 months in prison for his role in a Central Valley drug conspiracy, federal prosecutors said.

On four occasions, Alcantar delivered drugs for a former Porterville resident, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of California. He gave 1,150 counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, and a half-pound of methamphetamine, to an undercover officer for $5,940, the release said.

Alcantar and Alexis Mendiola, 38, of North Hollywood were the last of eight defendants to be sentenced for conspiring to distribute fentanyl and meth, prosecutors said. Mendiola got a year in prison.
