McHenry Police Compliance Checks: 3 Stores Told Cease and Desist

MCHENRY, IL — Three businesses in McHenry were accused last month of violating Governor JB Pritzker's March 21 shelter-in-place order after police officers bought what they believed were nonessential services at the stores during compliance checks, according to Northwest Herald. The McHenry stores visited by the officers were the GameStop, JoAnn Fabric and Michaels stores located in McHenry, the news report added. According to Northwest Herald, an email from McHenry Deputy Police Chief Thomas Welsh read that the managers at each store were open due to guidance from their corporate offices, but received cease and desist letters March 24 from police.
