The flu that has spread throughout the Florida State football team has forced the Seminoles to make a change at quarterback for Saturday afternoon’s game against NC State.

According to a report by 247Sports, redshirt senior McKenzie Milton will start for FSU (3-5, 2-3 ACC) when it takes on the visiting No. 19-ranked Wolfpack (6-2, 3-1 ACC) at 4 p.m. today.

Redshirt sophomore Jordan Travis, who has started the past four games for the Seminoles, is reportedly battling the same strain of influenza which has spread throughout the FSU and FAMU campuses this week and affected multiple players on FSU’s football team.

Seminoles coach Mike Norvell said earlier in the week that multiple players had been dealing with illness this week so it's possible other personnel's availability could be affected for today's game.

It would be Milton’s first start and game action since he started on Sept. 25th in a 31-23 loss to Louisville.

Travis' absence follows Chubba Purdy's decision to transfer

Travis’ absence further depletes FSU’s depth at quarterback after it lost redshirt freshman Chubba Purdy to the transfer portal earlier this week. Redshirt freshman Tate Rodemaker and walk-on redshirt freshman Gino English are the only other quarterbacks available on the Seminoles’ roster.

Milton, Rodemaker and English were the only quarterbacks out for pregame warmups a little under two hours before kickoff.

Travis energized FSU’s offense since becoming the full-time starter with some of his best play during his time as a Seminole. Over the past four games, Travis completed 52 of his 77 passes for 575 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception while running for 308 yards on 58 carries and three touchdowns. FSU is 3-2 when Travis starts winning three of his past four starts.

Milton started three consecutive games after appearing in relief of Travis in FSU’s season-opening 41-38 overtime loss to Notre Dame. Milton has completed 58 of 93 passes for 548 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions and, counting sack yardage, has zero yards on 20 attempts.

FSU is 0-4 in games in which Milton has played.
