- McLaren now offers a precisely tailored luggage set designed to match its new GT supercar.
- The four-piece set costs more than $15,000 when purchased together, but McLaren retailers will sell each item independently as well.
- All four pieces are rendered in your choice of black or light-tan semi-aniline leather.
If you're dropping $200,000 on a new McLaren supercar, what's another $15,000 for matching luggage? McLaren showed off its first set of leather travel bags at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. They are engineered to fit precisely into the front and rear trunks of the new GT.
The four-piece set can be purchased together or piecemeal; it consists of a garment bag ($2300), a "Weekender" duffel bag ($2500), a cabin bag ($3800), and a golf bag ($6800). Buyers can choose between two black leather options or go for the light tan-colored hide McLaren calls Porcelain. We'd love to add these to our list of favorite travel bags, but they're a little too rich for our journalist blood.
About the same size as a standard carry-on suitcase, the cabin bag appears to offer the most space for clothes, jewelry, and probably stacks of fresh $100 bills, while the duffel bag would be great for a couple of pairs of designer shoes.
The golf bag offers room for a full set of clubs and comes with several pockets to fit tees, balls, and those little golf pencils. We're sure car keys will also fit in the outside pockets, assuming the owner happens upon a course that lacks a valet. Buyers of the GT should start receiving their cars before the end of 2019, and the luggage set will be available to order through McLaren dealers sometime in September.
