Oct. 13—WORTHINGTON — The Globe is excited to announce the addition of Emma McNamee to its editorial staff.

McNamee joined the newsroom on Monday. Her primary duties include reporting on city government, politics, crime and courts.

A spring 2021 graduate of Columbia College, Chicago, with a bachelor of arts degree in multi-media journalism, McNamee comes to the Globe from her hometown of Duluth.

McNamee graduated from Duluth East High School in 2017, where she was a standout on the high school speech team. She competed in numerous state speech contests and is a two-time competitor in the national speech tournament.

Her interest in communications and writing led to her decision to pursue a degree in journalism.

In her spare time, McNamee enjoys writing, and is currently working on a series of young adult novels which she hopes to eventually have published. She also loves to cook — she makes an excellent cornbread — and enjoys reading. Oscar Wilde is one of her favorite writers.

McNamee also has an expansive collection of music, from vinyl to cassettes and CDs, crossing multiple genres and decades.

She can be reached at or 376-7311.
