MDOT starting M-123 construction Wednesday

St. IGNACE — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin shoulder maintenance work on on M-123 on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The project will require lane closures on M-123 from the southbound I-75 off ramp to the Mackinac/Chippewa county line in Mackinac County.

Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures with one lane of alternating traffic maintained via traffic regulators. A lane width restriction of 11 feet will be in place during this work.

The work, involving placing aggregate on both sides of the roadway, is expected to be completed by Sept. 8.

MDOT advises motorists to remain alert for workers and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
