'Mean Girls' the musical movie is coming, will complete Tina Fey's 'Marvel Universe'

Tina Fey's "Mean Girls" is coming back to the screen, this time in musical form.

Producers of the Broadway musical hit, based on the 2004 movie starring Lindsay Lohan, announced that "Mean Girls" will return to movie theaters as a musical in yet another adaptation.

"I’m very excited to bring 'Mean Girls' back to the big screen," said Fey, who will produce the new movie along with fellow original producer Lorne Michaels, in a statement Thursday. "I've spent sixteen years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly."

Fey will write the screenplay for the Paramount Pictures screen version, which will feature music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin.
