Mechanical issues cause temporary hotel shutdown

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A major downtown Lansing hotel has temporarily closed.

Patrick Perry, general manager of the Doubletree located at 111 N. Grand Ave., tells 6 News the hotel had a leak in it boiler system. That leak had resulted in the need for a replacement heat exchanger.

The Doubletree was formerly the Radisson Hotel in downtown. It sits at the corner of Michigan Ave. and Grand Ave., one of downtown Lansing’s key intersections. It’s just two blocks from the state capitol.

As a result of the mechanical issues, the hotel has booked guests at other accommodations, Perry says.

The incident happened Thursday. Perry says the work in putting in a temporary heat exchanger is expected to be completed by the weekend.
