Mechanics Revamp Demolition Derby Cars for Ukrainian Troops on Front Lines

Mechanics and a former paddleboat maker have been revamping demolition derby cars to send to troops on the front lines in Ukraine, according to a report by US-funded broadcaster Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Video by the outlet shows volunteers in Zaporizhzhia describing how they are adapting the cars for battle, including adding ways for soldiers to climb out.

“The guys who defend the Zaporizhzhia region need cars like this,” says city council member
Mykhaylo Viktorovych in the video, according to a translation by RFE/RL. “It’s fast and handles well. It’s easy to get out of, easy to use in battle,” he says. “It’s a supercar. We’ll win soon thanks to such cars and the guys who defend our borders.” Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
