Medford Gospel Mission prepares 'Hearts to Soles' Thanksgiving event

Nov. 15—Medford Gospel Mission is asking for donations to help prepare for a Thanksgiving event that will feed and provide new boots for people in need.

The Gospel Mission requests ready-to-eat rolls and assorted pies to serve with their traditional turkey dinner, according to an advisory on the faith-based organization's official social media page.

A free Thanksgiving meal — featuring roasted turkey and all the trimmings — will be served during a "Hearts to Soles" shoe giveaway event at the mission that runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 125 W. Jackson St., Medford, according to Christina Winkle with the Gospel Mission.

The mission will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

The event will feature free boots and shoes with expert fittings, and podiatrist Dr. Richard Owens will offer free foot checkups.

Free flu vaccines also will be available during the event.

The mission asks for warm clothing to distribute during the event. Donations requested include men's sweatshirts and long-sleeved shirts, beanies, gloves, jackets and coats. All donations can be dropped off at 125 W. Jackson St.
