Mediapolis, WACO marching on in IHSAA football playoffs after first round

Anthony Isley rushed for 200 yards and scored two touchdowns and quarterback Ben Egan threw for one score and rushed for two more as the Mediapolis High School football team rolled to a 52-7 win over Central Decatur in a Class 1A first-round playoff game Friday at the Mediapolis Athletic Complex.

Isley, a University of Northern Iowa recruit, scored on runs of 26 and 33 yards.

Josh Glendening scored on a 33-yard run and Braden Oliver scampered 57 yards for another score.

Cole Lipper caught a 27-yard scoring pass and Aedin Nelson hauled in a 28-yard scoring toss.

Mediapolis (9-0) advances to play Sigourney-Keota (7-2) at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at Sigourney.

NO. 3 WACO 57, MARTENSDALE-ST. MARYS 14: Isaac Oswald threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two others to lead the Warriors to an 8-Man first-round playoff home win.

Simeon Reichenbach rushed 10 times for 90 yards and three touchdowns and also hauled in a touchdown pass. Oswald completed 5-of-8 passes for 130 yards and rushed for 75 yards on six carries. Louden Huisenga rushed for a score for the Warriors.

WACO (10-0) hosts Central City (8-1) at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28.

NO. 2 DON BOSCO 48, WINFIELD-MOUNT UNION 18: University of Iowa recruit Cam Buffington rushed for 205 yards and three scores and caught two passes for 32 yards in the Wolves' 8-Man first-round playoff loss at Gilbertville.

Jake Edwards, playing for injured quarterback Cole Milks, completed 11-of-18 passes for 143 yards. Abram Edward caught six passes for 55 yards and Caleb Giese caught one pass for 37 yards.

NORTH LINN 45, WAPELLO 0: Casey Short threw for 45 yards and Jake Gustison rushed for 65 yards in the Indians' loss in a Class A first-round playoff game at Troy Mills.

Dylan Woodruff caught five passes for 33 yards for the Indians.

MONTICELLO 62, CENTRAL LEE 0: Cory Jones threw for 40 yards and Chase Johnson rushed for 22 yards in the Hawks' Class 2A first-round playoff loss at Monticello.

Central Lee was limited to 70 yards offense.
