Medical Reserve Corps Stepping In At Delco Hospitals

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Delaware County's hospitals are being strained by coronavirus patients and coronavirus-related staffing issues.

This has led the Delaware County Medical Reserve Corps to be activated.

The Medical Reserve Corps is assisting Crozer Hospital, Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, and Taylor Hospital.

The all-volunteer force is serving these facilities in medical and nonmedical roles as they seal with staffing shortages during a high transmission rate of coronavirus.

Members of the corps are assisting nurses, providing patient comfort, sanitizing medical equipment, and assisting various healthcare staff.

The Citizen Corps of Delaware County, including the Medical Reserve Corps, is made up of volunteers from Delaware County who are organized and deployed through the Delaware County Department of Emergency Services.

Their mission is to improve emergency preparedness, health, and safety of the residents of Delaware County during times of major emergency or disaster.
