Medical, dental, labs and more: Walmart Health opening 3 Jacksonville clinics this week

Accessible state-of-the-art healthcare is expanding in Jacksonville.

Walmart Health this week will open three new clinics in the city to provide medical, dental, optometry, hearing and behavioral health services as well as flu shots, other immunizations and wellness checks.

The openings — beginning Tuesday — will bring to five the number of Walmart Health Centers in the city and neighboring Clay County. All five are adjacent to existing Walmart Supercenters.

The new health center openings are:

  • Tuesday: 11900 Atlantic Blvd., Unit 1

  • Wednesday: 10991 San Jose Boulevard, Unit 100

  • Thursday: 12100 Lem Turner Road, Unit 100

They will join current Walmart Health facilities at 7075 Collins Road in Jacksonville and 1586 Branan Field Road in Middleburg, Walmart Health announced in a news release.

Walmart currently has 32 health centers nationwide.

Last October, the company announced it will open at least 16 new health centers this year in Florida. Among those health centers are the new Jacksonville locations as well as those in the metro areas of Orlando and Tampa, according to a corporate news release.

In addition, 28 more will be opened nationwide next year — bringing the total to at least 75 Walmart Health Center locations by the end of 2024, the company website shows.

Staffed by doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff, the Walmart Health centers are state-of-the-art facilities providing a range of healthcare services that typically include comprehensive primary health care, lab work, X-rays, EKGs, dental, hearing, community and behavioral health.

"To match the schedules of busy families, the health centers will offer care seven days a week with weekend and evening hours as well as telehealth options on Sundays," Walmart Health officials said in a news release announcing the openings.

Walmart Health previously said the centers "are saving Floridians time with wait times at approximately half the U.S. average."

More than 96% of patients reported that they “felt cared for” and nearly half of all appointments are for "primary and chronic condition care," the company said.

Walmart Health accepts many major insurance plans, but not all providers participate in all health plans. Would-be patients are urged to contact their closest Walmart Health facility for insurance information.

Payment for services including co-pays, charges for out-of-network care or deductibles is due when the care is provided, according to Walmart Health.

Patients can make an appointment, put in their insurance information and more online at the Walmart Health website, walmarthealth.com. There, prospective patients can also view a potential price list for medical services at Walmart Health Center.

Walmart debuted its health centers in 2019 and says its goal is simple: "serve our communities by providing accessible, convenient and affordable healthcare."
