Sep. 22—Traffic was backed up on Route 66 north of Delmont Thursday afternoon as emergency crews responded to a crash involving a tractor-trailer and passenger car.

At least one person was entrapped in the crash reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Daisy Lane, in Salem Township, according to a Westmoreland County 911 dispatch supervisor.

The passenger car was overturned at the entrance to Sunoco Logistics Partners, just north of Daisy Lane on Route 66, with much of the top sheared away.

A medical helicopter was summoned to the nearby Delmont fire hall, the supervisor said.
