Medvedchuk’s lawyers file appeal to return his Rada mandate – Arakhamia

“We already have the first precedent (...) This shows that Putin’s fans will look for any pretext to challenge the decisions of the authorities,” Arakhamia said.

“In order to prevent them from having such a chance, the cleansing of the parliament will take place exclusively in a constitutional manner,” he said.
Arakhamia called on all MPs from banned parties to give up their mandates and not to follow the populist appeals of some politicians who incite unconstitutional, voluntarist decisions. He said at least three MPs from the banned Opposition Platform — For Life (OPZZh) party are to be stripped of their mandates by Feb. 24.

On Feb. 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to a petition calling for the removal of the mandates of parliamentarians elected from OPZZh. He asked the Rada officials to work out such a proposal.
On Feb. 21, draft resolutions on the deprivation of the mandates of Natalia Korolevska and her husband Yuriy Solod were submitted to the Rada.
On Feb. 22, the Parliament received a statement from MP Oleg Voloshyn about his giving up his mandate.

Earlier, the Rada had stripped MP Ihor Abramovych of his parliamentary powers, as well as pro-Russian MPs from the OPZZh party — Medvedchuk, Taras Kozak, Renat Kuzmin, Andriy Derkach, Vadym Rabinovych, and Ihor Vasylkovsky.
