According to a GoFundMe set up by Thompson's family, she dreamed of being a firefighter and "realized her dream," by joining the Southborough Fire Department.

While a call firefighter in Medway, Thompson did everything she could to work toward that goal, Fire Chief Jeffrey Lynch said.

"She was a very dedicated family person and dedicated to her craft here," said Lynch. "She attended training all of the time and she was trying to get as much education as she was able to, so she could transfer to a career department."

Sherborn Fire Chief Zach Ward said Thompson was a call firefighter in that town from 2014-18. He said she left before he started but that the firefighters who worked with Thompson spoke highly of her.

"Everybody I spoke to really enjoyed working with her and our thoughts are with her family," Ward said.

Thompson was married for eight years to Craig Thompson, a Millis police officer, and was the mother of two children — Dylan, 14, and Bentley, 2.

According to her obituary, Thompson grew up in Hudson, New Hampshire, where her parents, James and Maureen Moulton, remain. She has a brother and sister. She earned an associate's degree from Nashua Community College.

Thompson's wake will take place 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway.

A funeral Mass for friends and relatives will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, 151 Village St., Medway. A private burial will take place later.
