Meet the 2021 Palm Beach Post All-County girls golf team

It shouldn't be a surprise to see Palm Beach County student-athletes at the top heights of FHSAA golf competition.

From individual state champions and team region and district titles on the local links, golf standouts from across the county contributed to a significant trophy haul in the county.

These are nominees for golf players of the year for the Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards to be held in the spring. The winner will be announced at the show. More details about the program are coming soon.

The Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.

Amelie Alcantara, Saint Andrew's School, Senior - Alcantara posted a 36.7 scoring average in her final prep campaign, capping her Scots career with a third-place finish at the Class 1A state championships.

Gabriella Albert, Saint Andrew's School, Freshman - Albert enjoyed a stellar freshman campaign. After averaging a team-best 36.3 scoring average, she took second at districts, T13th at regionals and T15th at state.

Gabriella Degasperis, The Benjamin School, Eighth - While several underclassmen golfers crack the 2021 nominees list, none are quite as young as the eight-grade DeGasperis. She posted a Top 3 finish at district and placed T13th at regionals.

Hope Hall, Saint Andrew's School, Senior - Hall was a leader for the Scots after finishing with a 38.1 scoring average in 2021. She fired a 68 to tie for second at the region championships, helping the Scots beat Benjamin by a single stroke for the team region title.

Oxbridge Academy golfer Jonna Hubbs

Jonna Hubbs, Oxbridge Academy, Senior - Oxbridge's veteran golfer is a postseason honoree for the second straight year. Hubbs helped make the Region 4-1A championship a thrilling hunt between top local golfers. She shot 72 to place 4th.

Noelle Jensen, Boca Raton, Senior - Jensen shot 72 to tie for first place individually at the District 14-3A championships. She tied for 13th place at the Region 4-3A championships.

West Boca Raton golfer Madison Lowenstein
West Boca Raton golfer Madison Lowenstein

Madison Lowenstein, West Boca Raton Community High School, Sophomore - Lowenstein proved to be a primetime performer in the 2021 postseason. She placed fourth at regionals and was the highest local finisher at state in Class 3A, tying for 13th.

Sophia Louis, Spanish River Community High School, Senior - The Sharks' decorated senior shot 72 to tie for first place at the District 14-3A championships. Louis shot 72 again at regionals to finish third individually.

Olivia Marano, Palm Beach Gardens, Freshman - Marano shot 74 to take first place individually at the District 13-3A championships. At regionals, Marano shot 74 again to tie for sixth place and qualify for the FHSAA state championships.

Amelie Phung, Florida Atlantic University High School, Freshman - FAU School enjoyed a successful 2021 campaign with a well-rounded roster. Phung put together one of her best performances of the year to place Top 5 at the region championships.

Morgan Rodriguez, Florida Atlantic University High School, Freshman - Rodriguez shot 70 to secure a stunning individual District 14-1A championship. Her efforts were also good enough to help FAU edge Saint Andrew's by two strokes for the team title.

Andie Smith, The Benjamin School, Senior - After placing in the Top 5 in two previous tries, Smith captured a long-awaited Class 1A state title in 2021. The longtime Duke University commit is set to fulfill that college dream next after signing with the Blue Devils.

Coach of the Year

Pam Elders, Saint Andrew's - After suffering heartbreak in a two-stroke defeat at the district championships, Elders' Scots rebounded to edge Benjamin by a single stroke to win the Region 4-1A title. They sustained that momentum to take fourth overall at the Class 1A state championships.
