Meet the 2022 Ashland County Jr. Fair royalty finalists

The 2022 Ashland County Fair starts Sunday.

That means it's once again time to pick the Ashland County Junior Fair royalty. The Junior Fair king and queen contest is slated for 12:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

This year's finalist are:

Gabe Murawski, 17, is the son of Tim and Jessica Murawski of Jeromesville. He is a senior at Hillsdale High and serves as an officer in the Hillsdale FFA. Gabe is also a member of the Boy Scouts Troop 521, the Fur, Feather N’ Fun 4-H club, the Hillsdale track and cross country teams, president of the Hillsdale Band, vice president of the Hillsdale Choir, Hillsdale Leo and Academic challenge teams, and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Praise Team Band. He is also both a member and the founder of the Hillsdale Esports Club. This year Gabe will be showing poultry, broilers, market rabbits, market goats, and a market turkey at the fair. His plan is to attend the University of Akron to pursue becoming a video game designer.

Vincent Scalesi, 17, is the son of Matt and Kristy Scalesi of Jeromesville. He is a junior at Hillsdale High and a scholar athlete. Vincent is a member of the National Honor Society, 2024 class officer, the Fur, Feather N’ Fun 4-H Club, the Boy Scouts Troop 521, the Jr.. Fair Board, the Hillsdale varsity golf and track teams, and the marching band. He will be exhibiting market rabbits, market goats, and breeding goats at the fair this year. Vincent intends to become a military pilot.

Miranda Eaton, 17, is the daughter of Dave and Melissa Eaton of Jeromesville. She is a 2022 graduate of Hillsdale High. Miranda is a member of the Paw Pals & Barn Buddies 4-H Club, and the Calvary Baptist Youth group. She was a member of the Hillsdale FFA, basketball, track and cheer teams and will be exhibiting poultry, broilers, horse, and baby beef at the fair. Miranda will be attending Ohio State University for sports medicine in the spring.

Alexus Evans, 16, is the daughter of Bill Patznick and Ruth Evans-Yancer of Ashland. She is a junior at Ashland High School – Ashland County West Holmes Career Center. She is a member of the Coll Country Kids 4-H Club, Ashland High School FFA Chapter, and the Jr. Fair Board. She also participates on the general livestock and meat judging teams. Alexus will be exhibiting market goats at the fair and plans to look at a career in cosmetology.

Zoie Gaus, 16, is the daughter of Tyler and Caley Gaus of Mansfield. She is a sophomore at Mapleton High and a Distinguished Scholar Roll student. Zoie is also a member of the Barnyard Bunch 4-H Club, the Land and Meat Evaluation teams, the Mapleton FFA president, and she is Ashland County Ohio Miss Teen Agriculture USA. She will be exhibiting a market hog at the fair and Zoie’s college and career pursuits are undetermined at this time.

Linde Hahn, 17, is the daughter of Evan and Kelly Hahn of Perrysville. She is a senior at Loudonville High and a National Honor Society member. She is also a member of the Loudonville Boys and Girls 4-H Club, the Loudonville FFA president, the Ashland County Jr. Fair Board, and she spearheaded the development of a Jr. Fair Board for the Loudonville Street Fair. Linde will be exhibiting a market hog at the fair and she plans to attend Kanas State University for meat science and animal products.

Makayla Spoerr, 17, is the daughter of Mike and Megan Spoerr of Greenwich. She is a senior at Crestview High and president of the National Honor Society. She is also the vice president of the Crestview FFA, president of the Next Generation 4-H Club, a Crestview varsity cheerleader, statistician/manager of the girls basketball team, and member of the general livestock judging team. Makayla will be exhibiting dairy cattle, a market turkey, and market goats at the fair. Her plan are to attend Ohio State University/ATI in Wooster to pursue a career as an agriculture teacher.

Baylee Weber, 16, is the daughter of Mike and Belinda Weber of Loudonville. She is a sophomore at Hillsdale High and a Star Greenhand member of the Hillsdale FFA. She is also a member of the Hilltop 4-Her’s 4-H Club, the Jr. Fair Board, student adviser of the Hillsdale FFA, general livestock judging team, the Jeromesville Coon Hunters Club, Hillsdale basketball team, Hillsdale volleyball team captain, Kindness Club, and the 2022 National Shropshire princess. Baylee will be exhibiting market steer, market turkey, and breeding sheep at the fair. Her plans are to become a nurse at an undetermined university.
