Meet the 2022 Lafayette Parish Students of the Year

Lafayette Parish School System announced its districtwide 2022 Student of the Year winners for elementary, middle and high school.

These students were among the 47 school-level winners who then went through a judging process that included a written essay, student portfolio and an interview judged by a panel of retired teachers and administrators.

"All 47 of these students performed extremely well and represented their schools tremendously in every aspect of the selection process," reads a district release.

The Lafayette Parish School System named its 2022 district-level Students of Year. They are fifth-grader Adeline Hoffpauir of Myrtle Place Elementary School, eighth-grader Lincoln Trumps of Paul Breaux Middle School and senior Avril Orme of Early College Academy.

District winners are:

  • Elementary: fifth-grader Adeline Hoffpauir, Myrtle Place Elementary School

  • Middle: eighth-grader Lincoln Trumps, Paul Breaux Middle School

  • High: senior Avril Orme, Early College Academy

The finalists selected will move on to represent the Lafayette school system at the regional level of competition. If selected to continue after the regional competition, the students will have the opportunity to compete at the state-level competition.
