Meet the 2022 All-Livingston County girls swim and dive team

School: Brighton

Class: Junior

Event: 50 freestyle

Accomplishments: Bissett was 21st in the state Division 1 meet in the 50 freestyle in 24.80 seconds after placing seventh in the KLAA in 25.09. She was 20th in the state meet in the 100 freestyle in 54.38 after taking fifth in the KLAA in 54.49.

Coach Jason Black: “I saw a lot of growth in how she approaches her races and how she approaches meets. She really stepped up as a leader and did her job.”

Ola Bodyl

Ola Bodyl

School: Brighton

Class: Junior

Event: 100 breaststroke

Accomplishments: Bodyl finished 11th in the state Division 1 meet with a time of 1:05.98. In the 200 IM, she moved from 16th in prelims to ninth on the final day by dropping 2.36 seconds with a time of 2:10.27.

Coach Jason Black: “It was fun watching her on top of the podium in the ninth-place position (first in the B finals). Hopefully, we can change that to the final round next year. She’s been a very solid swimmer for us and solid in every stroke and contributes to the team.”

Class: Senior

Event: 200 freestyle

Accomplishments: Geyer was third in the 200 freestyle in the MISCA meet in 1:52.48 and won the KLAA championship in the 500 freestyle in 5:01.15. She placed ninth in the state in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.95 and swam on three all-state relay teams. She will continue her swimming career at Northern Michigan University.

Coach Jason Black: “She’s been solid all four years. She really came into her own and broke out of a shell to be a great team leader. She can pretty much swim anything, any distance, any stroke.”

School: Brighton

Class: Freshman

Events: 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke

Accomplishments: Libler had three all-state (top eight) finishes and a 13th-place finish in backstroke in 59.22 seconds at the state Division 1 meet. She placed fourth in the 200 IM in 2:06.25. Libler was the KLAA champion in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.03 and fifth in backstroke in 59.36.

Coach Jason Black: “She was really huge on the 400 free relay. Coming out of backstroke and doing that as a freshman was pretty awesome. We knew she was coming up. We knew her times. The IM and her 100 freestyle times are what really stood out at the end of the season. She had pretty big time drops in both events.”

Ella Murawski

School: Hartland

Class: Junior

Event: Diving

Accomplishments: Murawski posted a score of 313.4 points to place seventh in the KLAA meet. She was 15th at regionals with a score of 299.25, coming one place and four points shy of qualifying for the state meet.

Coach Allison Pouliot: “What made Ella such a good diver is her drive and her want to get better. She was always pushing herself, always asking what she could do to get better. She wanted to be there; you could tell she wanted to be in the pool and wanted to excel.”

Victoria Schreiber

School: Brighton

Class: Senior

Events: 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle

Accomplishments: Schreiber had four top-five finishes in the state Division 1 meet and concluded her career with six top-four individual finishes to tie a Livingston County record. She was fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.24 after a school-record 1:50.56 in prelims. She swam a school-record 4:56.03 to place second in the 500 freestyle, an event she won last season.

Coach Jason Black: “She’s been such a great example for the younger swimmers to emulate, the way she approaches practices. She’s one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever coached. She’s never shied away from any challenge, no matter who she’s racing against, no matter what the race.”

Brighton 200 medley relay

Swimmers: Josie Libler, Fr.; Ola Bodyl, Jr.; Grace Gray, Soph.; Sage Bissett, Jr.

Accomplishments: The Bulldogs made all-state by placing sixth in 1:49.87. Libler swam a 27.58 50-yard backstroke, Bodyl a 30.51 breaststroke, Gray a 27.18 butterfly and Bissett a 24.60 freestyle in the state meet. Brighton’s fastest time was 1:48.72.

Coach Jason Black: “At the end of the season, we did have options with a couple different swimmers with Annika (Geyer) off that and on a couple free relays and Grace being able to swim whatever stroke we needed. That relay was pretty versatile. They were going to be successful no matter who we had on it in the state meet.”

Accomplishments: Brighton placed fifth in the state meet in 1:38.48. Bissett swam 24.62, Gray 24.69, Geyer 24.80 and Schreiber 24.37 in the championship final. The Bulldogs placed fourth in the MISCA meet in 1:39.45.

Accomplishments: The Bulldogs finished fourth in the state meet in 3:31.02. Schreiber swam the 100 in 52.22, Gray in 54.25, Libler in 52.18 and Geyer in 52.37.
