Meet the 2023 AGN girls basketball Super Team
G: Brenna Butler, Gruver, senior
The Oklahoma State signee led the Lady Greyhounds to a state runner-up finish while averaging 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
G: Sadie Sanchez, Randall, sophomore
Sanchez followed up a Newcomer of the Year freshman season with an even better sophomore year. She averaged 21.1 points and 2.1 steals per game for the Lady Raiders as they advanced to the regional semifinals.
G: Berlin Bartlett, Pampa, sophomore
Talk about doing it all. Bartlett averaged 16.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.5 steals per game for the Lady Harvesters as they advanced to the second round of the postseason.
F: Emma Troxell, Bushland, senior
The Preseason Player of the Year put up numbers worthy of a repeat performance. She averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3 steals per game for the Lady Falcons.
F: Avery Carter, Tascosa, junior
If there were a Comeback Player of the Year, Carter would run away with it. After missing her sophomore season with a knee injury, she returned to average 13.2 points, nine rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game and lead the Lady Rebels to the regional quarterfinal round of the playoffs. That was a year after finishing with a losing record.
SPARKS OFF THE BENCH
G: Jaylee Moss, Canyon, sophomore
The Lady Eagles were as dominant as ever with their team brand of basketball. On offense, though, Moss led the way with 11 points per game while being named District 4-4A Offensive MVP.
G: Daizjia Oages, Tascosa, senior
Averaged 8.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game, but it was her leadership and tenacity on defense that helped the Lady Rebels to a massive turnaround this season.
F: Bobbie Rennee Fouquett, Claude, senior
The senior led Claude to the Region I-1A finals, dropping a 26-24 decision to eventual state champion Nazareth. Averaged 14.9 points, seven rebounds and 3.9 steals per game.
F: Mercedes Ewing, Miami, junior
It's crazy to believe that Ewing is just a junior. She averaged 22.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game this season and will be back for yet another run.
F: Trinity Schlueter, Valley, sophomore
The Lady Patriots gave Nazareth everything they had in the regional quarterfinals and nearly won. Schlueter was a big reason for that, and for Valley being there in the first place, as she averaged 18 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.6 steals per game.
SECOND TEAM
G: Jada Graves, Amarillo High, junior
Graves did many of the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet, but she did pretty well there too. Averaged 10.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and two steals per game.
G: Braylen Lusby, Spearman, junior
Averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game for the Lady Lynx while scoring 1,064 points on the season.
G: Sydney Adee, Panhandle, senior
The Ettes nearly punched their ticket back to the state tournament and Adee was a huge factor in that. She averaged 7.6 points per game along with 5.3 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 3.8 assists.
F: Jada Torrence, Palo Duro, senior
Averaged 12 points and five rebounds per game as she led a young Lady Dons team to the postseason.
F: Lucy Richards, Vega, junior
It's scary that Richards still has another season to go. She averaged 17.6 points per game on the season, including 23.1 per game in district. She has an all-around game, averaging eight rebounds and four steals per game as well.
SPARKS OFF THE BENCH
G: Presley Wheeler, Nazareth, junior
Averaged 10 points, three assists and three rebounds per game, was offensive MVP of the district and MVP of the state tournament for the lone state champions of the area.
G: Cassie McClurg, Highland Park, senior
What a stellar career for McClurg. Averaged 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game and broke the school scoring record with 1,853 points.
F: Makylee Baldwin, Farwell, sophomore
Averaged 11.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 50% from the field for one of the best 2A teams in the state.
F: Hailo Moon, McLean, freshman
Averaged 14.2 points and 10 rebounds for a Lady Tigers team that made the regional quarterfinals before falling to an excellent Claude team.
F: Jami Perkins, Wildorado, freshman
Averaged 14.6 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 5.6 steals and 3.1 blocks per game for a Wildorado team that made the second round of the playoffs.
