Meet Andrea Vick, the Austin American-Statesman's new general manager

The Austin American-Statesman announced Thursday that Andrea Vick has been named General Manager for the Austin market.

Vick, a resident of Dripping Springs, has almost 20 years of experience in the local market place. She previously served as Vice President of Sales in Austin and most recently served as the Regional Vice President for Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Vick starts her new role, Oct. 1.

In this new role, Vick will closely collaborate with Executive Editor Manny García to strengthen local connections with businesses and brands, as well as drive community-based strategies and engagement efforts.

Vick has developed a strong reputation for building a sales team with the ability to help clients grow their businesses in a competitive and growing community. Austin now ranks as the 10th largest city in the United States. It is not only a tech hub, but land developers, restaurants, entrepreneurs, hospitals, medical specialists continue to expand across Central Texas, creating a need for expert sales teams to partner with them to strategically grow.

“The work our teams do is important to our community in many ways; we share the stories that need to be told and help local businesses thrive with our marketing solutions," Vick said.

Vick began her career as a marketing intern with the Statesman in 2004. She became an advertising coordinator in 2005 before moving into local sales. She has lived in the Austin area for 22 years, including the last 15 years in Dripping Springs. She serves on the marketing committee for HomeAid Austin and the United Way of Central Texas. Vick was honored as the Austin Women in Media Leader of the Year in 2019. She is a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos.

Vick will report to Kevin Martinelli, Gannett's Regional President of Sales - West Region, who touted her strategic experience and market knowledge. "She’s uniquely positioned to move the business forward while we implement strategic plans to benefit the Austin community that we deeply care about,” Martinelli said. “I’m excited to see Andrea take on the role of General Manager."
