Meet the athletes on the 2022 All-Bulletin track and field teams

After a five-year absence, The Bulletin is pleased to announce the All-Bulletin boys and girls track and field teams for the 2022 spring season.

Athletes were selected with the assistance of coaches from Norwich Free Academy, Norwich Technical High School, Griswold High School, Plainfield High School, Killingly High School and Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School. The boys All-Bulletin team features 17 students, while the girls team features 11 students. The teams include record-breakers, multiple Eastern Connecticut Conference champions and top finishers in various events.

Over the next couple of weeks, The Bulletin will announce All-Bulletin teams for lacrosse, baseball, softball, golf and tennis.

All-Bulletin Boys Track and Field Team

Dangelo Aristilde, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior was one of the top sprinters in the state, winning the Class LL title in the 100 in 10.91 seconds. He was the ECC champion in both the 100 (10.99) and 200 (22.18). He was also part of NFA’s record breaking 4x100 team that captured first in both the ECC and Class LL championship meets.

Carson Belisle, Plainfield: Panthers senior was the ECC champion in the pole vault (11-0).

Logan Benoit, Griswold: Wolverines senior placed third in the javelin (150-05) at the Class S championship meet.

Noah Colangelo, Killingly: Killingly junior placed fifth in the 100 (11.54) and seventh in the 200 (23.15) at the Class M championship meet. He was third in the 200 (23.28), fourth in the 100 (11.63), and fourth in the high jump (5-8) at the ECC championship meet.

Aldon Dawson, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats junior was third in the 100 (11.47) at the ECC championship meet. He was also part of the school record breaking 4x100 relay team that captured first in both the ECC (42.94) and Class LL (42.46) championship meets.

Glendon Dawson, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior won the Class LL state title in the 110 hurdles (15.22). He was also the ECC champion in both the 110 hurdles (15.46) and 300 hurdles (41.12).

Jayden Desilus, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior was the ECC champion in the high jump (6-0). He finished fifth in the high jump (6-0) at the Class LL championship meet.

Anthony Gaeta, Griswold: Wolverines senior was the ECC champion in the discus (130-11). He placed fourth in the discus (137-10) at the Class S championship meet.

Stephen Lee, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats junior was part of the school record breaking 4x100 relay team that captured first in both the ECC (42.94) and Class LL (42.46) championship meets.

Michaelly Luc, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior won the Class LL state title in the triple jump. He was the ECC champion in both the long jump (20-09.5) and triple jump (42-03.25). He was the ECC runnerup in the 400 (51.84). He also placed eighth in the triple jump (42.07) at the State Open meet.

Mike Merrill, Ellis Tech: Golden Eagles senior was the CTC champion in both the 110 hurdles (16.47) and 300 hurdles (42.94). He also placed fourth in the javelin (114-11) at the CTC championship meet.

Jeremiah Paul, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats junior was the ECC runnerup in the 200 (22.18). He was also part of the school record breaking 4x100 relay team that captured first in both the ECC (42.94) and Class LL (42.46) championship meets.

Sam Rebello, Ellis Tech: Golden Eagles senior placed third in the 400 (51.10) at the Class MM championship meet. He was the CTC runnerup in the 400 (52.74).

Owen Reinhart, Ellis Tech: Golden Eagles senior was the CTC champion in the high jump (5-10). He placed fourth in the high jump (6-0) at the Class MM championship meet.

NFA boys trackNFA boys track places third at Class LL meet, despite six title-winning performances

Jordan Ribeiro, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior won the Class LL state title in both the shot put (51.02) and discus (152-10). He was the ECC champion in the shot put (49-05.5). He was the State Open runnerup in the shot put (52-11.25). Ribeiro capped his outstanding season with a career best toss of 54-10.5 to finish second in the shot put in the Rising Stars Division at the New Balance National High School Track and Field Championships in Philadelphia.

Daniel Sims, Griswold: Wolverines senior was the ECC champion in the shot put (44-05).

Michael Strain, Griswold: Wolverines junior was the ECC runnerup in both the 1600 (4:37.44) and 3200 (10:19.00).

All-Bulletin Girls Track and Field Team

Taylor Bialowas, Griswold: Wolverines senior was the ECC champion in the long jump (16-06). She placed fifth in the long jump (16-03) at the Class S championship meet.

Alexis Boyer, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats junior was the ECC champion in the pole vault (9-06). She was the Class LL runnerup in the pole vault (9-06). She was also part of NFA’s 4x800 relay team that placed fourth at the Class LL championship meet and finished second at the ECC championship meet.

Jasmyn Bransford, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior won the Class LL state title in the long jump (17-09). She was the ECC champion in both the long jump (17-09) and 200 (25.97). She was the ECC runnerup in the 100 (12.68).

NFA girls track NFA girls track beat the team's own expectations at ECC championships. How did they do it?

Shanaya Brown, Killingly: Killingly sophomore placed fourth in the 100 (13.27) at the Class MM championship meet. She finished third in both the 200 (26.92) and long jump (16-11.5) and was fourth in the 100 (13.06) at the ECC championship meet.

Serena Devine, Plainfield: Panthers junior was the ECC runnerup in the javelin (88-09). She also placed third in the discus (85-08) at the ECC championship meet.

Hannah Graham, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats sophomore was the ECC champion in the discus (118-01). She was the Class LL runnerup in the discus (110-07). Graham capped her outstanding season with a 10th place finish in the discus (118-21) in the Rising Stars Division at the New Balance National High School Track and Field Championships in Philadelphia.

Hannah Grudzien, Killingly: Killingly sophomore finished in the top six in all three throwing events at the ECC and Class MM championship meets. She placed fourth in the javelin (98.07), fifth in the shot put (33-08), and sixth in the discus (90-08) at the state meet. She was third in the shot put (34-08), third in the javelin (100-05), and sixth in the discus (83-05) at the league meet.

Sophia Jones, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcats senior was the ECC runnerup in the 1600 (5:37). She was also part of NFA’s 4x800 relay team that placed fourth at the Class LL championship meet and finished second at the ECC championship meet.

Autumn Lovett, Norwich Tech: Warriors senior was the CTC champion in the high jump (4-04). She also finished third in the long jump (15-04.25) at the CTC championship meet.

Hailey McGuirl, Norwich Tech: Warriors senior was the CTC champion in the 800 (2:53.56).

Katherine Poirier, Killingly: Killingly senior placed third in the high jump (4-08) at the ECC championship meet. She was fifth in the high jump (5-0) at the Class M championship meet.
