Meet the ‘athletes’ of the 2024 Good Things Utah Pup Bowl, set for Feb. 9.
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The furriest sporting event of the season will air on ABC4’s Good Things Utah on Friday, Feb. 9 — and every single athlete is up for adoption.
The GTU Pup Bowl will be a battle between the Salt Lake City Lickers and the Park City Tailblazers, and will feature adorable, adoptable athletes looking for their forever homes.
The puppies are temporarily being housed with foster families through the local nonprofit and no-kill shelter Nuzzles & Co. Fosters through the organization are eligible for a small discount on adoption fees.

On their website, Nuzzles & Co. lists adoption fees for pets. The fees for dogs are as follows:
$375 for puppies under six months old.
$250 for puppies aged six months to one year old.
$150 for adult dogs (ages one through seven).
$25 for senior pets (more than seven years old).
Nuzzles & Co. works to rescue animals that are on euthanasia lists at other shelters, and also works to rescue animals who may be out in the wild.
Director of Operations Arin Meade told ABC4 that last year, more than 980 animals came through the doors of Nuzzles & Co. 969 of those animals were adopted.
The shelter will be bringing 10 four-legged competitors (and one referee) to compete in the GTU Pup Bowl live on Feb. 9. Play-by-plays will be given by ABC4’s own Dana Greene as the furry fiends fight for victory.
After the game, every single puppy (the players and the referee) will be available for adoption, and each of them will have received their vaccines, gotten microchipped and been spayed/neutered.
