Brow lamination kits ensure your eyebrow game is always on point. According to Joey Healy, one of NYC's premier eyebrow experts, brow lamination uses the same chemical solution found in lash perms to help your eyebrows lie flat and straight by removing the curls and kinky texture.

Healy and San Francisco-based eyebrow expert Michelle Holmes say brow lamination is a three-part, approximately 30-minute application process:

1. There's a solution applied that breaks down the bonds in the hair.
2. You will put a bit of plastic wrap on the brows to let them process flat and straight.
3. Afterward, apply a neutralizing agent to ensure the hair bonds are straightened, and you achieve a laminated look.

Holmes adds, “This popular treatment is great for those wanting a fuller and more lifted-looking brow because it will give you height. If you already use a brow gel to fluff your brows higher, this treatment makes it easier to lift your brows sky high and keep them in place.”

How Do I Protect My Eyes During Brow Lamination?

“The formulas should be thick enough not to run, so it shouldn’t travel into your eyes,” says Holmes. “However, if you find your first step is thinner, best to tilt your head back a little and apply plastic film to hold [it] in place, so it doesn’t move while processing.”

How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?

Brow lamination kits are incredible because they're low maintenance. Our experts say brow lamination results can last between 4 and 8 weeks, depending on the hair texture of your eyebrows.

Healy's biggest tip for extending the results of your brow lamination is to avoid getting them wet, including excessive sweating. Each kit has its guidance, but generally, you should expect to skip showering and working out for 24 hours after each brow lamination kit treatment.

Is Brow Lamination for Me?

Healy says brow lamination is typically used by those with unruly eyebrows, who find more than brow gels and waxes are needed to achieve the soap brow look. Using a brow lamination kit can make achieving that trending brow style easier, and it'll last for an extended period.

“I always say that you should have thick, strong brow hairs if you’re going to do lamination because the process can potentially strip the hair and be damaging,” cautions Healy. “Particularly, there are concerns if your brows are already brittle, thin, or fragile because it is a chemical process. So, the best candidates are people who can tolerate that and are the ones who have thicker hair.”

Holmes agrees, adding you should let your brows grow out a bit before giving a brow lamination kit a shot.“Lamination works best with brows that have some length. Super short hair doesn’t work as well, but it can work with a trained eye. If you have recently had your brows shaped or trimmed, grow them out a bit before lamination. If you trim a lot, it will be very obvious since lamination pushes the tips of the brow hairs into view,” she says.
