Meet Dave Israel and Trish Wharff-Israel, new owners of Glam Tan & Beauty in Coshocton
COSHOCTON ‒Trish Wharff-Israel, a Newcomerstown High graduate and resident, has been self-employed and working from home most of her adult life.
But she loves people and has been looking at properties in recent years to launch her own business. Her main focus is making people feel better through beauty services like tanning, hair, nails and eyelash extensions.
The first step of Wharff-Israel’s vision has come true as she discovered the former Four Seasons Tanning of Coshocton was for sale.

Wharff-Israel and husband, Dave, were immediately interested as it was a turnkey opportunity with a modern vibe. In addition, the business at 1018 Main Street included four apartments above.
Most of the other properties the Israels looked at needed work. Trish and Dave became the official owners on Dec. 1 of Glam & Tan Beauty.
The pair are newlyweds. Trish has one son, Jordan 28, plus Dave’s three children (and her bonus children): Ava, 16, Logan,13, and Mason, 11.
“Trish had a vision, and now that vision is a reality. She has now started her wish to interact on a personal basis with customers. Once we decided to move forward with purchasing the property in Coshocto, she went to work researching every aspect of ownership by constructing her business strategy to obtaining all the business permits and other crucial items needed ..., " Dave said. "Trish has a great business sense and intuition, as well as a strong desire to fulfill her longing to make people happier with themselves. I am so proud of her and happy to be on this journey with Trish."
What training was involved in you taking over the shop?
Trish: "The former owners were wonderful to collaborate with, and I spent many weeks working with them to know the business, meet current customers and learning about the maintenance and care of the tanning beds. There is actually a spray tan booth customers use on their own by following commands of when to turn, stand still, etc. This bed is very popular with both men and women. However, the bed and its functions were a new concept to me, and I wanted to be sure I knew all the features of this particular offering, as well as the other tanning beds we would be keeping in the shop."
Your dream is to have a one stop-shop for beauty. How soon do you plan to start adding services?
"We plan to start very soon on this project. Glam Tan & Beauty currently has 30 tanning beds. Our goal is to remove some of the tanning beds, and utilize the space for facial, nail and haircare stations plus areas for waxing, eyelash extensions and brows with the possibility of also providing a massage therapist. We definitely have plenty of room to make all of these pampering options happen here."
What would people be surprised to know about you?
"Oh, this was an easy one for me because for as long as I can remember my ultimate dream career has been to be a talk show host."
What do you enjoy in your downtime?
"First and foremost, we love family time with our children, my family and Dave’s family. We also enjoy entertaining both family and friends as well as Mexican night at some of our favorite (local) restaurants. We also have a pontoon boat and spend as much time in the summer as we can taking in the refreshing atmosphere of being on the water."
What would you like to highlight for us?
"I want to thank Dave for all of his support as we are embarking on this new business enterprise. He works full-time, but spends his time after work and on Saturdays assisting me with Glam Tan & Beauty. He is a Godsend, and I appreciate him so much."
The store is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hours will be extended in February, the official beginning of tanning season.
