Meet Daxxify, the New Treatment That’s Botox’s Arch Nemesis

We told you that injectable moisturizers were the future of skincare, and in addition to that, there's a new skin-injectable beating down the block and it lasts even longer than traditional botox. Meet: Daxxify treatment, aka "Daxi."

Daxxify or DaxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm, in formal terms, was recently announced FDA-approved by Revance Aesthetics after being in development for over 30 years. Daxxify is the first longer-lasting peptide-powered fine line-relaxing injectable to come to market. This is largely because the wrinkle-reducing effects are said to last longer than Botox (which lasts for up to four months.) The catch of it all is that instead of scheduling maintenance touchups three to four times a year, people who opt for Daxxify may only need one to two treatments a year based on personal needs.

Like any type of external or internal cosmetic procedure, there are side effects. Daxxify users may experience headache, injection site discomfort, swelling and face drooping, as the FDA advises. Because Daxxify's results are said to last longer, it may also take more time for side effects to fade. If you have had any type of Botox before, you may experience the same side effects as mentioned.

Right now, Daxxify is still an early experience program, so check with your local physicians to see if they're available. The FDA has advised there will be a larger commercial roll-out later in 2023.
