Meet editors, learn about Columbus Dispatch at free event Thursday

Greater Columbus residents are invited to learn more about the Columbus Dispatch, Dispatch.com and its coverage of central Ohio during the next stop in the "Dispatch on Tour" series.

The hour-long program, which will feature Dispatch Executive Editor Edwina Blackwell Clark, Opinion and Community Engagement Editor Amelia Robinson, Sports Editor Brian White, and Assistant Metro Editor Ryan E. Smith will occur at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 at the Columbus Metropolitan Library's Martin Luther King Branch, 1467 E. Long St.

Blackwell Clark said, “Every day our goal is to provide news and information that is relevant, informative, and representative of what Central Ohio residents care about. Not only is this event one where you can hear what we do and learn how to connect with our staff, but it allows us an opportunity to listen to what is important to you, our readers."

The program will feature an update from Blackwell Clark, who will discuss the Dispatch's mission, its premier digital platforms and all the ways you can get news and information from the Dispatch 24/7.

White will discuss the newspaper's sports columnists and its coverage of Ohio State University athletics, high school sports, the Columbus Crew, and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Robinson will share how the opinion section provides a platform for the exchange of ideas through guest columns, letters to the editor, the "Then What Happened?" podcast and the Columbus Conversations town hall series.

Dispatch Mobile Newsroom: Telling stories in Columbus neighborhoods

Smith will explain how to get news coverage and what The Dispatch is doing to reach out to underserved communities.
