Meet Emma, an American blue heeler who's great on a leash - until a critter passes by

Through Sunday, SPCA Florida is participating, in the “Empty the Shelters” initiative hosted by BISELL Pet Foundation. With their help, adoption fees have been lowered in hopes of encouraging more people to open their homes to a shelter pet. Because of this initiative, adoption fees for all cats over two years old are just $50. For more information, please visit www.spcaflorida.org.

Preview all of the adoptable pets at www.spcaflorida.org. To meet or adopt a pet located at SPCA Florida, stop by the Adoption Center Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prior to adoption all pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and come with a month of flea and heartworm prevention. Emma is an 8-year-old, 42-pound gal who behaves well on a leash and exhibits unflagging energy. She’s hard-wired with a strong prey drive, so keep that in mind if a critter crosses your path during a walk. Her last family surrendered her after they found out their newborn is allergic to dogs. The SPCA Florida medical team treated her for mild dandruff, extracted two molars, and scaled and polished her remaining pearly whites. She’s ready to join a forever family.
