Meet the First Black Captain America
Mackie's character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe became Captain America at the end of the Disney+ series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier".
Speaking on stage, Mackie said "It was a moment that was all about the future, a moment where kids of all races can look at Captain America and maybe see a little bit of themselves. I'm so proud to be part of the cinematic universe and now part of all this."
The six-acre (2.43 hectares) Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim is the Walt Disney Co's latest redesign of its popular theme parks, which were closed for extended periods during the coronavirus pandemic.
