ALGONAC — From Muskrat to Wolverine; an Algonac resident is marching at the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Joshua Hindy, who graduated from Algonac in 2022, will be playing in the trumpet section with the University of Michigan Marching Band at the CFP National Championship on Monday. He said he knows it's going to be a great time and is very excited to play and march at the game.

"I'm really looking forward to it, not just from a football perspective, but just the fact that I get to be there," he said. "Go Blue."

The College Football Playoff National Championship will be taking place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the NRG Stadium in Houston. Michigan will be facing off against Washington.

Michigan won against Alabama at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. Joshua Hindy said playing there and being in the parade was fantastic and such an honor.

"People were cheering every time we played 'The Victors,'" he said. "I'm a huge Michigan football fan and it was just a great time for them and for the marching band. Even though it wasn't our stadium, it felt like a home game."

He said it's a great feeling to represent Algonac at the games.

Joshua's mom, Judy Hindy said she is incredibly proud of her son. She has been living with cancer for the past nine years, and it made her push herself to do everything with her children. She said this is such an awesome opportunity for Joshua.

"I raised him to be a good kid and to work hard for the things he wants," Judy Hindy said. "It just makes me so proud to see how incredibly he's done."

Joshua Hindy has been playing the trumpet since he was in sixth grade. He said being in band and playing an instrument is a heavy commitment, but something he just knew he wanted to do. Joshua Hindy is currently on track to graduate in 2026 with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.

Joshua Hindy said the Algonac community has shown a lot of support while he's been home over winter break. He said many of the Michigan fans from Algonac have voiced a lot of excitement not only for him, but for the team making the championship.
