TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER – I have been with Saylor Wealth Strategies a short time, but I’ve fallen in love with my role here. The culture of the company is beyond amazing, the people are awesome, and I love how the clients are always our first priority no matter what! So far, I have helped customers with paperwork and any other requests they may have, and, as I’ve gained experience, I’m starting my financial assistant role by assisting with financial aspects as I am able.

WILL YOU BE LOCATED AT SAYLOR WEALTH STRATEGIES’ NEWCOMERSTOWN OFFICE? – Nothing is set in stone yet, but so far, the plan is that I will be switching between the Newcomerstown and Coshocton offices, at least to start. Eventually, I would love to be situated in the Newcomerstown office full-time serving clients from my hometown and surrounding areas.

WHEN WILL THE NEWCOMERSTOWN OFFICE OPEN – The contractors are still remodeling the Newcomerstown office. As of now, we are planning to open around early February. Anyone interested in knowing more about services can reach me by phoning our office at 740-575-4782.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE ON THIS FIELD? – I think in a way I’ve always kind of known I wanted to go into the business world. As I was searching for colleges in high school and looking at majors; I remember writing every business major possible down. I then sorted them based on whether they sounded like something I would be interested in or not. I had it narrowed down to a top three, Accounting, business management and business administration. I ended up choosing accounting. I knew I excelled in math in school, and it was a subject that I really liked, so I went with accounting. I later added on business management as a double major. I tried seeking jobs at corporate accounting firms, and small accounting firms for months before I found Saylor Wealth Strategies. The position I applied for wasn’t exactly accounting related, but it still dealt with numbers and I knew there was potential to grow into a position that was more related to accounting. We all have to start somewhere to get to where we want to go, right?

IS THERE AN INFLUENTIAL TEACHER WHO GUIDED YOUR PATH? – As far as influential teachers go, I have a couple in mind, but the biggest one would be my mom. From a young age I knew I wanted to help people like my mom does, but I don’t have the stomach to be a nurse like her, haha. So I realized, in a way, I could help people in a financial manner, (that also had an impact on my choice of major). I also have to recognize one of my high school math teachers, Mrs. Richter, for always making math class fun and enjoyable, thus making me love math even more which allowed me to be where I am today!

TELL US ABOUT GROWING UP IN NEWCOMERSTOWN – I grew up very close to my family, especially my grandparents, who a lot of people from Newcomerstown probably know – Ron and Polly Porcher. My grandpa was very involved with the community, so I grew up helping him get the little league baseball fields ready, going to different businesses around town with him, and walking around with him during the Cy Young Days Festivals each summer. The Cy Young Days Festival will always be one of my favorite things that happens in the village, not only because it’s a time for Newcomerstown to get together and have fun, but because it will always remind me of my grandpa and all the memories I’ve had with him at all the past festivals. I have a ton of great memories from high school, but I think the best ones were with the Leo Club. We did a lot of good things for the community and it was so much fun, but the most memorable was when we held a car wash to raise money for the West Virginia flood relief and then we all went down to West Virginia for a day and helped people clean up after the giant flood.

WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU – I feel like I never have a good answer for this type of question, so I will say something that I don’t think many people know about me. I was raised by a single mom, so I was taught to be a strong woman and follow my passions.  Because of this, I found a small, woman-owned business that was focused on making women feel confident, beautiful and focused on uplifting others. The company is called Rhonda Madrid Designs, LLC. The owner, Rhonda Madrid, handcrafts jewelry and I’m lucky enough to call myself an ambassador for her company. I love the values and the goals of her company, and she truly does everything she can for her customers and ambassadors.

WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT? – For people looking into this field, just know that there is so much to offer and so many possibilities with the paths you can take with this career. Our office alone handles retirement planning, investments, CDs and college planning, and within each of those categories are so many more options. What I love about this company is that we strive to educate our clients on their choices, the process, and why it is important to diversify their strategies, so the clients feel knowledgeable. For everyone, no matter your situation, I just want to say YOU got this, YOU can do this!  Whatever life throws at you, it’s because you are strong enough to overcome it, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the moment. My life motto is, “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming.”
