Meet Joseph Case High School's Top 10 graduates of 2023

SWANSEA — The following students were named to the Top 10 of Joseph Case High School's class of 2023.

Carter Cantafio
Carter Cantafio

Carter Cantafio, Valedictorian, is the son of Steven and Bethany Cantafio. Carter has participated in golf and baseball while at high school. Carter has participated in peer tutoring and the Cardinal’s Nest School Store. Carter is a member of the National Honor Society serving as president. Carter enjoys flying planes where he has earned his private pilot license. Carter will be attending Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Florida to major in Aviation Business Administration with a focus in Air Transportation. He will minor in Air Traffic Control. Carter’s goal is to become an air traffic controller, pilot, or airline executive.

Jaden Dias
Jaden Dias

Jaden Dias, Salutatorian, is the son of Odette and Albert Dias. Jaden earned Highest Honors throughout his high school tenure, also winning the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and the DAR Good Citizen Award. He has also volunteered his time with the Swansea Little League and has tutored others in Math and Science. An active member of the JCHS community, Jaden served as Class Treasurer and participated in Theatre productions and the Math Team. He is also a member of the National Honor Society. Jaden will be attending Roger Williams University to study Engineering.

Mary Arruda
Mary Arruda

Mary Arruda is the daughter of Patricia and Jay Arruda.  She received the AP Scholar Award and the Academic Excellence Gold Award. An active member of the JCHS community, Mary has been a member of the Tennis team, as well as participating in Mock Trial, Theatre, and Student Council. Mary is also a member of the National Honor Society. Throughout her high school career, Mary volunteered at Annelle Delorme Food Pantry. This fall, Mary will be attending Suffolk University to study Political Science.

Loagan Brown
Loagan Brown

Loagan Brown is the daughter of Jessica and Sean McGlynn. Loagan has participated in Drama and volleyball during her time at the high school.  She was a member of Cardinal’s Nest School Store. Loagan is a member of the National Honor Society. Loagan enjoys weightlifting and reading. Loagan has volunteered as a camp counselor. Loagan will attend Bridgewater State University in the fall to major in Digital Marketing.

Kaelyn Lecomte
Kaelyn Lecomte

Kaelyn Lecomte is the daughter of Elizabeth and Christopher Lecomte. She earned the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and has been awarded Honors or High Honors each year at JCHS. She has devoted her leadership to several athletics teams, including Field Hockey and Track & Field. In addition, she has maintained an active role as a Class Officer and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has volunteered her time with Greater Fall River RE-CREATION and Case’s Little Faces. Kaelyn will be attending American University to study Environmental Science.

Christian Liberatore
Christian Liberatore

Christian Liberatore, son of Heather and Tony Liberatore. Christian was elected Captain of the Joseph Case High School Soccer and Tennis teams, and he was awarded Most Valuable Athlete for Soccer. Christian excelled in his academics, achieving both the Highest and High Honors during his high school career. Christian is also a member of the National Honor Society. This Fall, Christian will attend Providence College to study Finance.

Brooke Medeiros
Brooke Medeiros

Brooke Medeiros is the daughter of Maureen and Peter Medeiros. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has won several awards during her time at JCHS for academic and extracurricular excellence. She has received accolades for her time with the Joseph Case High School Cheerleading program, serving as a captain for the New England championship team. Brooke has lent her leadership to the Theatre program as well as additional volunteer activities. Brooke will be attending the University of Rhode Island to study Communications Disorders in pursuit of a career in Speech-Language Pathology.

Joel Mello
Joel Mello

Joel Mello, the son of Lisa and David Mello, is a member of the National Honor Society and earned the John and Abigail Adams scholarship. Joel has been a leader on the Joseph Case High School Soccer team and has served as captain for the past two years. Joel has benefited his community in several ways, including his volunteering on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout. Joel will be attending the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, in the fall and plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

Miranda Rebello
Miranda Rebello

Miranda Rebello is the daughter of Deborah and Antone Rebello. She has received several awards for her academic prowess, and she has been an active member of the Swansea community throughout her time at JCHS.  She has been a devoted member of the JCHS basketball team. In addition, Miranda has volunteered her time with a local daycare center. Miranda is a member of the National Honor Society. Miranda will be attending Roger Williams University in pursuit of an Engineering major.

Emma Villarrubia
Emma Villarrubia

Emma Villarrubia, daughter of Michelle and Edwin Villarrubia, has a list of academic accomplishments more along the lines of an undergraduate student than that of a graduating senior. She has been an active participant in Student Government and Class Officers, serving as the student representative for the Swansea School Committee. She has also been a leader on several JCHS Athletics teams, including Soccer and Track & Field. She will be volunteering at a youth development camp in South Africa before attending Boston University in January. At BU, she will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience.
