Kevin Neri recently joined the staff of the Statesman Journal as a multimedia photojournalist.

Originally from Pacifica, California, Neri graduated from the University of Oregon in June with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Sports Business.

Neri completed a summer internship at the Sacramento Bee in Sacramento, California, earlier this year.

"What I love about community journalism is having the opportunity to meet and interact with new people,” Neri said.

"My favorite assignments are sports," he said. "I was a high school athlete and understand the commitment of the athletes and the sacrifices their families make. I love capturing emotions in real time."

Neri is fluent in Spanish and is a certified drone pilot.

“Neri impressed me with his willingness to tackle both still photography and video on deadline during his internship in California,” said Chris Pietsch Director of Multimedia for Gannett in Oregon.

“In addition to being a wonderful photographer, his fluency in Spanish will be a welcome asset to the Statesman Journal staff.” Pietsch said.
