Meet Kota: Little Rock Zoo names baby orangutan

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock Zoo’s newest baby primate now has a name.

Zoo officials announced on social media Friday the second son of orangutans Berani and Bandar has been named Kota.

Kota was born just around a month ago on Feb. 23, and has been integrating into his family.

Bornean orangutans are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. There is an estimate of only 45,000 to 69,000 Bornean orangutans in the wild.

Kota can be viewed at the zoo in the orangutan exhibit with his toddler brother, Kasih, and parents.
