Meet the school board candidates for Beech Grove City Schools

Corrections & Clarifications: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated how many seats there are on the Beech Grove City school board. There are seven.

The Beech Grove City Schools’ school board has seven seats, three of which are on the ballot this year. All three candidates are incumbents and don’t face any challengers. All school board member seats are at-large seats.

Any voter who lives in the district will be able to vote for all three candidates.

At Large

Jannis King

Jannis King is currently the president of the Beech Grove school board and has been serving on the board for over a decade. She currently works as a part-time substitute teacher with Kelly Services, according to her campaign filing report. IndyStar reached out for additional comment.

Robert Challis

Robert Challis currently serves as the Beech Grove school board’s vice president and was first elected to the board in 2018. He currently works for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and also owns a property management company called RC Property Management, according to his campaign filing report. IndyStar reached out for additional comment.

Rickey Skirvin

Rickey Skirvin is a current Beech grove school board member and also works at CryoNation, a cryogenic gas installation and service company, according to his campaign filing report. Skirvin has previously tried to run for mayor of Beech Grove in 2019, according to the Southside Times. IndyStar reached out for additional comment.

Early voting has already begun and Indianapolis voters can early vote in person at the Indianapolis City-County building. Additional early voting sites open on Oct. 29. To find where the sites are located go to vote.indy.gov/early-voting.

Marion County residents can vote at any of the county’s vote centers on election day on Nov. 8.
