Meet Somerset Berkley Regional High School's Top 10 Graduates of 2022
SOMERSET —The following students graduated from Somerset Berkley Regional High School at the academic top of the senior class.
1. Mia Russ
Mia Russ, Valedictorian, is the daughter of Anne and Robert Russ of Somerset. Mia has held several leadership positions in the SBRHS community as the co-president of Girl Up, president of the Math Team, and secretary of the National Honor Society. She is on the indoor track team and a member of Best Buddies. Outside of school, Mia is a talented dancer and volunteers her time teaching young students. Additionally, Mia holds a part-time job. Mia is the recipient of the Harvard University Book Award and a National Merit Scholarship finalist. In the fall, Mia will attend Harvard College, pursuing a degree in Human Development and Regenerative Biology.
2. Julia Viveiros
Julia Viveiros, Salutatorian, is the daughter of Elizabeth and Michael Viveiros of Somerset. Julia is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar. Throughout high school, she has served the SBRHS community as a student leader through Big Buddy, Student Government, and the Anti-Bullying Coalition. She is the recipient of the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement & Social Conscience. Additionally, Julia has been committed to the art of dance since the age of three and has dedicated time teaching young students the skills that she has worked so hard to perfect. In the fall, Julia will attend the University of Connecticut, where she will pursue a degree in Biological Sciences on a pre-med track, with the goal of one day becoming an oncologist.
3. Lauren Rothwell
Lauren Rothwell is the daughter of Lori and Jon Rothwell of Somerset. Lauren is an active member of Big Buddy and the National Honor Society. Outside of school, she volunteers with the Chinese Exchange Program and coaches youth in field hockey. Lauren is an extremely skilled and talented field hockey player who has committed to Bryant University where she plans to study Finance.
4. Nicole Ledwidge
Nicole Ledwidge is the daughter of Catherine and John Ledwidge of Somerset. Nicole is a member of the National Honor Society, the Big Buddy program, Girl Up, and the Chamber Ensemble. She is also a talented athlete and a member of our Field Hockey team as well as our Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field teams. Nicole has been involved in numerous community service activities throughout her high school career and has served as a leader and role model to her peers and classmates. In the fall, she will be pursuing her Nursing degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
5. Corryn Fisher
Corryn Fisher is the daughter of Beverly and David Fisher of Somerset. Corryn is active in the National Honor Society and the band. She is an integral member of the volleyball, spring, and winter track teams. Outside of school, Corryn has a job and has been actively involved in community service. In the fall, she will be pursuing a degree in Mathematical Sciences at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
6. Elena Cabral
Elena Cabral is the daughter of Kristen and Michael Cabral of Somerset. With many leadership positions, Elena is the treasurer of Girl Up, captain of the field hockey team, and was voted MVP on her track team. She is an active participant of the National Honor Society and an expert dancer. In the fall, Elena will attend Providence College, where she will pursue a degree in Biology.
7. Mackenzie Shea
Mackenzie Shea is the daughter of Brooke and Terrance Shea of Berkley. A true leader in our school community, Mackenzie is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, a member of our Big Buddy program, Girl Up, Model UN, and Student Government. She is also a key player on the girl's soccer team, in which she has been involved all four years. Outside of school, Mackenzie tutors others, babysits, has an additional job, and has been involved in numerous community service projects throughout her high school career. In the fall, Mackenzie will be attending Boston College, where she will be majoring in Political Science.
8. Nathan Caruso
Nathan Caruso is the son of Kristine Burke of Somerset and Phil Caruso of Hanover. Nathan is a member of the National Honor Society, an AP scholar, and an accomplished soccer player. Outside of school, Nathan is the captain of his club soccer team. In the fall, Nathan will be attending Villanova University, majoring in Astrophysics with a minor in Economics.
9. Kiri Setzer
Kiri Setzer is the daughter of Gina and Matthew Setzer of Somerset. Kiri has been an active member of our school community through her involvement in the school’s Coding Club, as well as the music and theater programs, including the Show Choir, Concert Choir, and Chorale. Kiri is involved in theater programs outside of school as well, has a job, and has been involved in numerous community service events throughout her high school career. An incredibly talented young lady, Kiri will be attending AMDA College of Performing Arts in the fall, where she will be majoring in Musical Theater.
10. Jaice Thurber
Jaice Thurber is the daughter of Kerri and Justin Thurber of Somerset. Jaice is a member of the National Honor Society and is recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar. She has been an active student leader within the SBRHS community, serving as a peer mentor through Big Buddy, president of Choir and vice president of Model UN. In the fall, Jaice will be attending Liberty University to pursue a degree in Biomedical Science, with a goal of one day becoming a physician.
