Meet the top Central Minnesota high school athletes for April 27-May 3

Over the past week, some standout individual performances helped Central Minnesota high school sports teams. Here are some of the St. Cloud area's top performers from April 27-May 3.

Adapted softball

  • St. Cloud's Logan Anderson and Isaiah Jancik had strong performances as the Crush won 15-5 over Mounds View on Thursday. Anderson went 4-for-4 with five RBIs, while Jancik went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs.

  • St. Cloud's Logan Anderson went 4-for-4 with four RBIs in the 20-0 win over Buffalo on Tuesday.

Baseball

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Cullen Posch and Terrance Moody worked together on the mound to earn the 2-1 win over Willmar on Thursday. Posch threw 4.1 innings with five hits, zero runs, two walks and six strikeouts, while Moody pitched 2.2 innings with one hit, zero runs, zero walks and four strikeouts.

  • St. Cloud's Elian Mezquita threw a complete game with three hits, zero earned runs, two walks and four strikeouts in the 4-3 loss to Brainerd on Thursday. He also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

  • Sartell's Kade Lewis had four RBIs and Wesley Johnson pitched a complete game giving up four hits, one earned run, two walks and three strikeouts in the 10-2 win over ROCORI on Thursday.

  • Albany's Brady Goebel went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs in the 12-4 win over Mora on Thursday.

  • Cathedral's Talen Braegelman and Austin Lenzmeier worked together on the mound in the 4-3 loss to Foley on Thursday. Braegelman started the game with five innings giving up zero earned runs, three hits, four walks and six strikeouts. Lenzmeier finished off with four innings and three hits, one earned run, two walks and six strikeouts.

  • Albany's Carter Birr threw six shutout innings and had a two-run triple in the 9-1 win over Melrose on Friday.

  • St. Cloud's Jaden Mendel had three RBIs in the 6-3 loss to Willmar on Friday.

  • Sauk Rapids-Rice's Ethan Swanson threw 2.1 innings giving up zero hits, zero runs, one walk and five strikeouts in the 4-3 win over Big Lake on Monday.

  • ROCORI's Brady Blattner pitched six innings with four hits, zero earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts in the 5-4 win over Sauk Rapids-Rice on Tuesday.

  • Sartell's Kade Lewis and Wesley Johnson had a big day in the 6-0 win over Willmar on Tuesday. Lewis went 2-for-4 with two runs, two home runs and three RBIs, while Johnson pitched a complete game with three hits, zero runs, two walks and four strikeouts.

  • Albany's Brady Goebel and Carter Birr worked together to earn the 8-2 win over Cathedral on Tuesday. Goebel pitched six innings giving up one run and five strikeouts, while also going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Birr went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Boys golf

  • Sartell's Lance Hamak and Jack Schmitz tied for first individually with a score of 78 in the Central Lakes Conference meet on Thursday. The Sabres finished first as a team with a score of 322.

  • Sartell's Lance Hamak and Mason Lund shot under 80 in the Central Lakes Conference meet on Tuesday. The Sabres finished second as a team with a score of 317.

Girls golf

  • Albany's Abby Thelen shot an 86 in the Albany Invitational on Thursday as the Huskies finished first with a score of 369.

  • Cathedral's Peyton Mathiasen shot a 91 in the Albany Invitational on Thursday as the Crusaders finished second with a score of 392.

Boys lacrosse

  • St. Cloud's Landen Othoudt saved 12 shots in the 10-5 win over Brainerd on Thursday.

  • Sartell/Sauk Rapids' Aiden Hilger and John Claypool had big performances in the 14-5 win over ROCORI on Thursday. Hilger had five goals, while Claypool had four goals and two assists.

  • St. Cloud's Joe Torborg scored four goals and an assist in the 8-7 loss to Monticello on Tuesday.

Softball

  • Sartell's Danika Sarff pitched a complete game with three hits, two earned runs, five walks and 10 strikeouts in the 4-2 win over ROCORI on Thursday.

  • Albany's Alyssa Sand went 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBIs and a home run in the 12-1 win over Mora on Thursday.

  • Cathedral's Ella Voit threw a complete giving up zero walks, zero runs and nine strikeouts in the 9-0 win over Foley on Thursday.

  • Albany's Kendall Buerman and Audrey Rieland had big games in the 20-8 win over Foley on Friday. Buerman went 2-for-5 with three runs, two home runs and seven RBIs, while Rieland went 3-for-4 with five RBIs.

  • Albany's Shelby Horning threw four innings with two hits, zero runs, zero walks and three strikeouts in the 10-3 win over Little Falls on Monday.

  • Cathedral's Ella Voit and Summer Zamora had big days in the 12-1 win over Zimmerman on Monday. Voit pitched four innings with six strikeouts, while Zamora had three RBIs.

  • Sartell's Danika Sarff and Hannah Sundell worked together in the 12-0 win over Fergus Falls on Tuesday. Sundell had three RBIs, while Sarff had a home run and three RBIs. Sarff also pitched a complete game giving up one hit, zero runs, three walks and 12 strikeouts.

  • Sartell's Abbi Scholz and Danika Sarff had strong performances in the 15-0 win over Fergus Falls on Tuesday. Sarff went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, while Scholz pitched a complete game with three hits, zero runs, two walks and six strikeouts.

  • Cathedral's Ella Voit threw a complete game and struck out eight batters in the 4-2 win over Albany on Tuesday.

  • Cathedral's Kailee Falconer and Tayla Vought produced the runs in the 9-3 win over Albany on Tuesday. Falconer went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Vought had four hits and three RBIs.

Boys tennis

  • Sartell's Zak Farley won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, while Riley Hengel and Jaden Otto won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 doubles as the Sabres won 6-1 over Willmar on Friday.

  • Sartell's Zak Farley at No. 2 singles and Kaazim Sabir and Cameron May at No. 3 singles won their matches 6-0, 6-0, while Jack Michaud won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles in the 6-1 win over Cathedral on Monday.

  • Sartell's Clayton Fuller and Riley Hengel won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and 3 singles respectively, while Aidan Woods and Bailey Woods won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles as the Sabres won 6-1 over Willmar on Tuesday.

Boys track and field

  • Cathedral's 4x800-meter relay finished fourth at the Hamline Elite Meet on Friday with a time of 8:08.35.

  • ROCORI's Brent Wittmer placed second in the discus throw (138-06) as the Spartans finished seventh with 52 points at the Crimson Invite on Tuesday.

  • Tech finished third at the Buffalo Invite on Tuesday and the Tigers had plenty of big performances.

    • John Kaczor finished first in shot put (50-03.25).

    • Josh Russell placed first in discus throw (139-05) and second in shot put (47-11.5).

    • Garrison Murray finished first in the high jump (6-03).

    • Arik Nikolas placed first in the triple jump (41-08.25) and second in the long jump (20-08.5).

Girls track and field

  • ROCORI's Cecelia Woods finished fifth in the 300 hurdles (45.79) at the Hamline Elite Meet on Friday.

  • ROCORI had some big finishes at the Crimson Invite on Tuesday as the Spartans finished third as a team with 104.5 points.

    • Cecelia Woods ended up first in the 100 hurdles (14.91) and fifth in the 400 dash (1:01.95).

    • Shelby Sieben placed first in the discus throw (100-07).

    • Brianna Schneider finished second in the shout put (35-05).

  • Tech's Jayna Benson and Stella Rusch had strong runs at the Buffalo Invite on Tuesday as the Tigers finished sixth with 32.75 points. Benson placed second in the 100 dash (13.29) and Rusch finished second in the 3200 run (12:01.1).
