American Idol” contestant Megan Danielle put a country twist on two pop songs, and in turn, advanced to the show’s top 5.

Danielle, from Douglasville, Georgia, wowed guest judges Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran as she performed songs by them during the Sunday, May 7, episode.

Her rendition of Morissette’s “Head Over Feet” was called “really soulful” by the Canadian-American singer. Morissette also commented on how Danielle expressed the lyrics of the song well.

“Really expressing that ambivalence of ‘I’m used to being hard on myself but here’s the person across from me loving me so well’ and just expressing that really authentically,” Morissette said.

Sheeran told Danielle her “tone is incredible,” calling it “very, very unique.” Similar remarks were said by Luke Bryan.

“I’m nudging Ed, I’m like, ‘This girl’s got a tone and a thing,” Bryan said. “The thing about that song is you laid it in the pocket and you made it real inviting.”

Danielle also performed Sheeran’s song “Dive” in a duet with Colin Stough, from Amory, Mississippi.

With both singers having roots in country music, Sheeran said they “complement each other so well.”

“It was really beautiful to watch you both make the joyful noise,” Morissette said.

Danielle later found out she made the show’s top 5 along with Stough, Wé Ani, Iam Tongi and Zachariah Smith. The top 5 episode will air Sunday, May 14.

“Top 5, BABY!!!!” Danielle said in an Instagram post. “This is so cool! Thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart!!!!”
