Meghan Markle and Archie Have Been in Touch With the Queen
ICYMI, Prince Harry is back in California following his trip to England for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip. The duke flew by himself due to Meghan Markle being advised not to travel by her physician, but the duchess has reportedly expressed her sympathies to and been in touch with the Queen. She and Archie even spoke to Her Majesty this week!
“Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather’s funeral,” a source tells People. “Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week.”
Prior to Harry’s return home, a source also told the outlet that “Meghan and Harry have been in touch every day. She knows the trip to England has been difficult for Harry. He didn’t want to leave Meghan and Archie alone. Meghan has insisted to him every day, though, that they are fine. She hasn’t wanted him to worry.”
While the Sussexes’ relationship with the royals has been strained since their bombshell Oprah interview, friends say Meghan’s ready to forgive. As a source told the Daily Mail, “Meghan said it’s during these times when family should come together, put their differences aside, and unite as one. She said this is what Prince Philip would want and that she’s willing to forgive and move forward.”
The same source indicated that the Queen has been entirely understanding of Meghan not being able to attend Philip’s funeral, saying, “Meghan said attending or not attending Prince Philip’s funeral isn’t going to change her relationship with the Queen. She said the Queen understands her absence and would want her to stay safe and healthy for the baby. Meghan said this is the opportune time for [Harry] to mend his relationship with his brother and his dad. She doesn’t need to be there for that.”
