Meghan Markle's close friend, fashion designer Misha Nonoo, is getting married this weekend - but it looks like the Duchess of Sussex might be forced to miss the special occasion.

Misha will wed oil tycoon Michael Hess in a several-days-long celebration in Rome. The ceremony itself takes place this Saturday, 21 September, but the weekend will also reportedly include a party at Cinecitta, the iconic film studios where renowned Italian directors including as Rossellini, Fellini, and Visconti created their work.

According to Hello!, Misha and Michael's wedding has a glittering guest list, with high profile names such as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Karlie Kloss and husband Joshua Kushner, Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner, and even Queen Rania of Jordan having been invited.

Also among the invitees are, of course, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. But sadly for Meghan, it doesn't look as though the Sussexes' schedule will allow them to attend. The Duke and Duchess begin a two-week royal tour in Africa on Monday, September 23, which would require them to travel from Italy to Cape Town after the wedding on Sunday (approximately a 13 hour flight) if they were to try to squeeze Misha and Michael's nuptials into their schedule.

Considering they'd likely have baby Archie in tow, it's understandable that they might choose to forgo the wedding in the interests of him (and their energy levels).

Meghan Markle has been close friends with Misha Nonoo for years, and the former actress even chose to wear one of her designer pal's shirts on her first ever public appearance with Prince Harry (you know, where they held hands and we all sobbed with happiness) at the Invictus Games in Toronto back in September 2017.

The pair were introduced by a mutual friend at an event in Miami years ago and "got along like a house on fire," Misha once said.

Misha is also thought to be the clever person who set up Meghan Markle and Prince Harry back in July 2016. Misha was previously married to Alexander Gilkes, a former pupil at Eton and one of Harry's closest friends, hence her connection to the royal.

While Misha has never confirmed she was the cupid behind the successful union of the Sussexes - "I really can’t answer that," she said when asked outright by the Evening Standard - Prince Harry did confirm in his engagement interview that the couple was set up by a "mutual friend" who Meghan later identified as female.

"It was definitely a set up, it was a blind date," Meghan revealed in the couple's first interview as bride-and-groom-to-be.

"I didn’t know much about him and so I asked her when she said she would set us up: 'Is he nice?' If he wasn’t kind it didn’t seem like it would make sense," she said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (along with baby Archie) will begin their royal tour on Monday 23 September in Cape Town, South Africa. The family will stay there for two days before Harry departs for Botswana, where he'll tour further until 1 October. The following day, Meghan and Harry (and potentially Archie) will travel to Johannesburg together to round off the trip.

And if it's anything like the Sussexes' Australia tour last year, we can't wait for the pictures.
